A fully standalone game, Zug um Zug Deutschland is a new implementation of the game board and train routes first used in Zug um Zug Märklin. There is a thematic change so that the new edition is set in Germany during the 20th century. The gameplay consists of collecting wagon cards in order to gradually take possession of a given rail network with the help of small plastic wagons. The color of the playing fields between the cities determines which wagon cards have to be collected. If the number and color of the wagon cards match those of the fields between two cities, the route may be occupied by wagons of your own color. There are rating points for this, whereby the length of the route is decisive. Points are awarded again at the end of the game. To do this, the routes on the so-called destination cards must be completed. Each player draws three of these destination cards face down at the beginning, of which he must keep at least two. During the game you can also repeatedly draw three more destination cards, of which you must keep at least one. If you don't meet the game goals, you get minus points.
